V for Vendetta

gosh..been really obsessed with this movie recently..the movie is just too beautiful..the words spoken in it is so magnificent..yet an inspiration to all..the movie was quite old, 2005..many might not heard of it therefore i've decided to post it up,,The movie is set in Great Britain in the near future. Under the guise of several terrorist acts, a totalitarian government is elected to Parliament under Chancellor Adam Sutler (John Hurt) to save the country from these terrorists. The only problem is the people must give up a lot of their freedoms for being safe. The government eventually becomes cruel, corrupt, and oppressive to the people. Driven by a personal vendetta, a mysterious individual William Rookwood (Hugo Weaving) comes to the forefront to take up the cause of freedom. He wears a mask of Guy Fawkes to cover his face, and changes his name to only V. V's mission is to kill all the doctors who had tortured him at the detention center, and bring back justice to the country. On November 5, in the process of blowing up his first building, V rescues a young woman, Evey (Natalie Portman), from the secret police. V takes over the TV station and broadcasts a message to the country condemning the oppressors in Parliament. V invites all the people to join him in one year on Guy Fawkes Night to see him complete what Guy Fawkes couldn't, blow up Parliament. That's all i've got to say for this movie's synopsis....and that's what will keep ringing in your minds after watching the movie..
Best Dialogue
V: I can assure you I mean you no harm.
Evey Hammond: Who are you?
V: Who? Who is but the form following the function of what and what I am is a man in a mask. Evey Hammond: Well I can see that.
V: Of course you can. I'm not questioning your powers of observation I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is.
Evey Hammond: Oh. Right.
V: But on this most auspicious of nights, permit me then, in lieu of the more commonplace sobriquet, to suggest the character of this dramatis persona.
V: Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.
V: The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous.
V: Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.
Evey Hammond: Are you like a crazy person?
V: I am quite sure they will say so. But to whom, might I ask, am I speaking with? Evey Hammond: I'm Evey.
V: Evey? E-V. Of course you are.
Evey Hammond: What does that mean?
V: It means that I, like God, do not play with dice and I don't believe in coincidences.

"Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is it vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished, as the once vital voice of the verisimilitude now venerates what they once vilified. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose vis-à-vis an introduction, and so it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V."

Roasted Lamb Rack with Potato Gnocchi, Shallot Confit and Tomato Confit

I had a long thought before doing this menu for my practical class and I've decided to post it here to share it with others that might be interested in finding for recipes for lamb rack.it might look complicated but it is very simple actually..A rack of lamb is the equivalent of prime rib in beef that is tenderer and has a wonderful flavor. The confit cooking method is a method of changing the texture of the food using low heat rather than completely cooking it.

Roasted Lamb Rack with Potato Gnocchi, Shallot Confit and Tomato Confit

Ingredients
serves 4

1 whole lamb rack
2 fully ripe tomatoes
3 large potatoes
6 shallots
2 strands of Rosemary
2 strands of Thyme
1 cup lamb stock
1/4 cup red wine
1/2 cup multi purpose flour
Salt and pepper

Method

Lamb Rack

1. Start by visiting a reliable butcher and getting a good rack of lamb. Ask your butcher to make sure and remove the thin skin from the outside of the rack and ask him to cut of the chine bone to make it easier to carve.
2. Removed any loose pieces of fat. Dry it off with some paper towels and season with rosemary, salt and pepper.
3. Place the rack on a hot, preheated grill for about 2 minutes per side to sear the surface.
4. Roast for about 10 to 15 minutes in the oven at 180 degrees or gas number 5.
5. You need a meat thermometer to test the internal temperature as you go. You definitely do not want to over cook this dish. Lamb reached rare at about 50 degrees celcius and medium about 65 degrees celcius. Allow about 10 to 20 minutes resting time before you carve it up.

Bercy Sauce

1. Start by chopping 2 shallots coarsely. Heat then pan with a small amount of butter or olive oil.
2. Saute the shallots until transparent and slow down the fire.
3. Add in the red wine and thyme and let it simmer.
4. Add in the lamb stock and simmer until the volume is reduced by half. If the sauce is too watery, add in a small cube of butter and whisk using a wire whisk rapidly until the butter had melted and dissolved compltely into the sauce. This method is used to thicken sauces and gives the sauce a glossy effect but it can only be used for ala minute as the butter will split from the sauce after some time causing a layer of oil on the sauce.

Tomato and Shallot Confit

1. Peel of the shallots skin and trim off any dried parts.
2. Halve the tomato and season with thyme, salt and pepper.
3. Drizzle some olive oil on the tomatoes and shallot.
4. Bake in the oven at 90 degrees celcius or gas number 3 for 7 minutes.

Potato Gnocchi

1. Peel off the potato skin and cook in water until soft.Boil the potatoes starting from cold water instead of putting it in a pot of boiling water. Boil until tender. A kitchen knife would be able to pass through.Do not overcook the potato as potato absorbs water.
2. Once the potato is soft, mash using a fork or a masher. Season with salt and pepper.
3. Add in the flour and mix well. Knead on the floured table for 5 minutes.
4. Scoop using a tablespoon and shape it as desired.
5. Cook it for 2 minutes in boiling water so that the shape holds.
6. Pan fry the gnocchi until golden brown.
